Venturers

Ages 15 to 18  |  Wednesday 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Venturers meet in Kew and Richmond

At Kew and Richmond Venturer Unit we strive to grow outstanding young leaders who have a strong sense of purpose and are empowered to make a positive difference. Established in 2018, our Unit is comprised of young people from across Melbourne and from all walks of life. Venturers is a mix of fun and adventure, providing vital breathing space while you're dealing with your toughest years in school. You can focus on friendship and personal growth, while picking up valuable life skills along the way.

As a Venturer Scout, you may find yourself exploring wilderness Australia, camping in the snow or diving on coral reefs. You could find yourself starring in theatre productions, or even participating in high-stakes cooking competitions. You don't need any previous Scouting experience - we'll help you catch up. We have a team of dedicated and highly-experienced Adult Leaders who are there to support us through all endeavours.

Rovers

Ages 18 to 25  |  TBC
Rovers meet TBC

We are excited to annoucne that some enterprising Venturers from our KeRi Venturer Unit have embarked on the creation of a Rover Unit involving several other Units.

The new Rover Unit will launch at the begining of 2023. Watch this space for details...

Every Unit is different. Each has its own traditions, special interests and personalities. A Rover Unit runs itself, with an elected Unit Leader and executive.

Rovers enjoy helping others, having a great time and taking on new challenges. You’ll need a ‘give it a go’ attitude and you’ll be rewarded with some serious fun.

Rovers get down and dirty each year in a mud bash and costumed chaos reigns at the annual ball. There’s a surfing camp at Anglesea, or an Easter hiking challenge. Plus you can enjoy our own ski chalet near Falls Creek.

Scouts

Ages 11 to 14  |  Tuesday 7:00pm to 9:00pm

“Action Plus” is the best way to describe the life of a Scout. Scouts have the opportunity to experience numerous adventures. Many discover they have a special interest in one or more of the extensive range of activities and interests available in Scouting. They are able to follow these through with the help of the Scout Leaders and fellow Patrol Members.

Scouting is a constant round of adventure, abseiling, flying, hiking, camping, canoeing and fishing. Importantly, with the help and support of professionally trained Scout Leaders, Scouts not only face the action, but they learn to do it safely.

At Scouts you’ll become a member of a Scout Patrol and your Patrol will work with other Patrols to form a larger Scout Troop. Together you’ll make important decisions, set critical goals, and depend on each other to succeed. And when you do succeed, you can earn achievement badges!

Scout Troops usually meet every week to discuss their progress and work towards achieving their goals. Scout meetings consist of team-building activities, playing games, developing specialised skills and knowledge, and planning for weekend adventures and campouts. At meetings Troop members share stories and experiences of their recent adventures and offer advice to one another. Scout Leaders teach safety lessons on how to use equipment correctly and inspire their Scouts to be the best individuals and team players that they can be.
